And the content thing. And the time thing.
Basically, it’s a thing thing.

The internet’s a funny thing. You go intentionally to look for something you want, then click on something interesting, then click on something else, then something else, then before you know it, unintentionally, you find something you need.
Like this video by photographer Sue Bryce about confronting fear:

And in particular this quote, in which she distills the 1300+ replies to a post in which she asked photographers to name the thing that made them walk away from making a call, approaching a person, or putting themselves out there:
“We can discuss fear until the sun sets and it won’t change the fact I’m going to wake up tomorrow and not be able to make a phone call in my business because I’m terrified! Why am I terrified?
I’m not terrified: I just don’t think I’m worth it.
I don’t think I’m worth it.
That’s heartbreaking, isn’t it?”
It absolutely is. And it’s absolutely wrong.
Everyone’s worth it.
The balmy 72 degrees of Christmas Eve is a fast-fading memory as a winter weather advisory bears down on us. Saving grace is that the projectedly ugly morning commute will probably be lighter than normal because many people are still on vacation. Here’s hoping.
Good luck and stay warm…
A long time ago, not far away at all, I was a big fan. But after the prequels I pretty much became an apostate, so it was with great trepidation I watched opening day for Ep 7 approach. I didn’t buy tickets in advance; didn’t even know if I’d go to see it on the big screen or wait for it to go to DVD/cable. In the end, the fear of spoilers drove me to venture to a theater on opening day.
I was expecting long lines and high-spirited crowds (heck, I was expecting it to look like ComicCon). Instead, I walked right up and bought a ticket, then settled into a theater that was only about 1/3 full. Movie started, and the audience response was…nothing. Heard the guy behind me chuckle twice, but other than that, no reaction. And when the credits ran: total silence. People just stood, picked up their stuff, and walked out.
Is this a sign of the apocalypse?
Still working out technical details, but determined to post *something* at least weekly, so: here’s this week’s post.
Ok, leaving it at just that would be like an empty money-holder in a holiday card. Erm…
When in doubt, quote!
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” – Confucius
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.” – A.A. Milne, Winne the Pooh
(If slow & steady’s good enough for the silly ol’ bear, it’s good enough for me.)
Why a blog? Like with many crazy creative endeavors, there was a dare challenge involved. To start — just start. And then continue. And then grow.
So here’s the starting. We’ll see how the next two shape up.
